Clearfield Reduces Op/Ex Cost of Broadband Deployment
Integrated MTP/MPO Option Allows for Rapid Turn Up and Plug-N-Play Flexibility without Jeopardizing Fiber Circuits
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Broadband service providers can now drastically reduce their operational cost of deployment without jeopardizing the reliability of their fiber circuits. Clearfield, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLFD) announced today that the Clearview Cassette, the building block of the FieldSmart Fiber Management Platform, is now shipping with a MPO/MTP configuration option. What makes this solution unique, is that while the MTP/MPO -- a multi-fiber connector for high density interconnections -- provides for up to 12 ribbon fibers in a single port, its inclusion within the Clearview Cassette allows for full plug-n-play flexibility and rapid turn-up time, while the physical protection of the fiber is maintained within the integrated enclosure of the cassette itself.
Consistent with the Clearview application methodology, this configuration option scales across the network from inside plant to outside plant to access networks when MTP/MPO capabilities are preferred. Because the Clearview Cassette is a standalone device that integrates into all FieldSmart products, the user can stock a limited number of SKU's to support a variety of network requirements in rapid fashion.
Adding to the optical component capability of the Clearview Cassette, the additional option of the MTP/MPO adapter plate allows for the ultimate in plug-n-play scenarios when scalability and alignment of capital investment to subscriber revenue is desired. A MTP/MPO pre-assembled cassette and a pre-terminated MTP/MPO assembly is all that is required to install and turn up fiber circuits across the network. Clearfield supports pre-terminated assemblies in all fiber constructions to interface into the cassette.
"Core to FieldSmart is the ability to scale your investment in capital equipment with the turn-up of revenue generating circuits," Johnny Hill, chief operating officer at Clearfield explains. "This enhancement goes the next step and provides the broadband service provider the option to go beyond traditional single fiber connectivity, while maintaining a consistent architecture across the network. Customer studies have validated that this consistent architecture reduces installation and service turn up time because familiarity of the product exists at all points of the network."

About Clearfield, Inc.
Clearfield, Inc. designs and manufactures the WaveSmart PowerNode and FieldSmart Fiber Management Platform, which includes its latest generation FieldSmart Fiber Distribution System (FDS), FieldSmart Fiber Scalability Center (FSC) and FieldSmart Fiber Delivery Point (FDP) series. The FDS, FSC and FDP product lines support a wide range of panel configurations, cabinet and wall mount panel sizes, densities, connectors and adapter options, and are offered alongside an assortment of passive optical components for the inside plant, outside plant and access networks.
Core to these designs is the Clearview Cassette, a patent-pending technology that ensures that all the basic principles of fiber management are satisfied without exposure to environmental hazards or human interaction. Integrated cassette components fully nest into the cassette's main housing to support any application or fiber type desired. Within the cassette, all fibers from the sub-assembly are slack stored, bend radius protected, and secured against accidental physical damage from handling. Designed to handle the toughest operating environments, the Clearview Cassette provides flexibility and reliable performance in the access network, the central office and in the field.
As an "Any Application, Anywhere Multiplier," the Clearview Cassette reduces training and installation time for the technician and allows for a single fiber management component to be stocked for all environments - thereby reducing inventory stocking levels during installation or maintenance.
Clearfield also provides a complete line of fiber and copper assemblies. Clearfield is a public company, traded on NASDAQ:CLFD.
