Ronald Roth

Chairman of the Board

Ronald G. Roth was elected Clearfield Inc.’s Chairman of the Board of the company in June 2007, after initially being elected to the APA Cables and Networks board in 2000. Previously, he served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Waste Systems Corp., a privately held waste hauling and disposal company. Mr. Roth’s 25-year leadership of Waste System Corp. is credited with its growth and profitability, culminating with its sale to a national sold waste management company in 1995.

From 1995 to 2001, he was Chairman of the Board of Access Cash International L.L.C., a North American provider of ATMs and related processing and financial services, until its sale. Since 1990 Mr. Roth has been an owner of Phillips Recycling Systems, and has served in various capacities, including director and officer. He holds a B.A. in Marketing from Michigan State University.

Cheri Beranek

President and CEO

A founding member of Clearfield, Inc., Cheri Beranek is considered a communications visionary. Her extensive leadership experience and unique management style combined deliver outstanding corporate performance.

Under her direction, Clearfield has recorded 12 consecutive years of profitability. Today, Clearfield is a multinational business with more than 250 employees and over 800 customers.

Earlier and throughout her career, Ms. Beranek held a variety of executive-level positions with emerging high-growth technology companies, including Americable, Transition Networks, Tricord Systems, and Digi International. She also has extensive non-profit experience including: the City of Fargo, the Metropolitan Planning Commission of Fargo/Moorhead, and North Dakota State University.

In addition to being a published author and public speaker at industry events, Ms. Beranek has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the 2016 Minnesota Technology Executive of the Year by Tech.MN, 2016 Female Executive of the Year in New York City by the International Stevie Awards, 2012 Women in Wireline from Fierce Telecom, 2012 regional finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Stevie Awards for Business in 2011 as a finalist for Best Executive for non-services businesses and the 2009 Turn-Around of the Year, as well as the Twin Cities Business Journal’s Industry Leader Award in 2009 and Women to Watch award in 2004. Under her leadership, Clearfield was named to the prestigious Forbes Annual List of America’s Best Small Companies in both 2013 and 2014.

Pat Goepel

Pat Goepel joined the board of directors of Clearfield in September of 2015. Mr. Goepel has spent the last 25 years in technology based companies. Mr. Goepel is the current CEO and a board member of Asure Software, a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Prior to his joining Asure in 2009, Goepel was the President of Fidelity HR Services. He has also served as Executive Vice President at Ceridian Employer Services. An experienced growth executive, Mr. Goepel has extensive experience in global expansion, merger and acquisition, and operational excellence initiatives.

In addition to Asure Software, Mr. Goepel serves on the board of directors of Safeguard World International and is the Chairman of APPD Investments.

Roger Harding

Roger Harding became the newest member of Clearfield’s Board of Directors, with his appointment beginning July 14th, 2016. Harding brings to the board more than 35 years of executive experience in the networking industry, having served in multiple leadership roles at Alcatel-Lucent, a leading IP networking, ultra-broadband access, and cloud technology specialist, as well as a subsidiary of Nokia Corporation. In his most recent role at Alcatel-Lucent, Harding managed the $1.5 billion Global Switching and Classic Products business, cutting supply chain costs by 40% during his tenure. Harding also launched the startup of Alcatel-Lucent’s remanufacturing line of business, scaling its revenues to $400 million.

Harding received a BA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Central Oklahoma and attended several executive management programs at leading institutions, including Duke University, Harvard University, and the Wharton School of Business.

Charles N. Hayssen

Charles N. Hayssen has been a director since September 2008. From August 2007 to September 2008 Mr. Hayssen was a private investor. From August 2004 until August 2007, Mr. Hayssen was Chief Operating Officer of AllOver Media, Inc., an out-of-home media company. Mr. Hayssen was a private investor from April 2004 to August 2004, and Chief Financial Officer of ThinkEquity Partners LLC, an equity capital markets firm, from September 2002 to April 2004. Prior to September 2002, Mr. Hayssen was a private investor from November 2001 to September 2002, and Chief Financial Officer of Access Cash International L.L.C. from February 2000 to November 2001. Previously, Mr. Hayssen held a number of positions over a nineteen-year career with Piper Jaffray Companies Inc., including three years as Chief Information Officer, two years as Chief Operating Officer of Piper Capital Management and seven years as Chief Financial Officer.

Donald R. Hayward

Donald R. Hayward is currently President of Engel Diversified Industries (EDI), a privately held manufacturing company. Immediately prior to joining EDI, Mr. Hayward held the position of Director of Corporate Services at Minnesota Technology, Inc. (MTI) a publicly funded, private non-profit in support of Minnesota’s technology community. Prior to 1998, Mr. Hayward spent nearly 20 years working in business administration, finance and manufacturing for LecTec, Pine Island and Goodhue Elevator Associations, the Pillsbury Corporation as well as private elementary school. Mr. Hayward holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
