Clearfield Bridges the Gap in Small Count Fiber Management
FieldSmart SCD Fiber Kit Sets Industry-Leading Price Point at $199 for 12 Ports
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Clearfield, Inc. (Nasdaq:CLFD) announced its latest innovation in fiber management, the FieldSmart Small Count Delivery (SCD) Wall Box xWB2. Joining the FieldSmart SCD xWB1 enclosure for the Clearview xPAK, the FieldSmart SCD xWB2 can be kitted with up to two Clearview Cassettes to land small port count fiber terminations and optical components as conveniently and inexpensively as possible.
"Last spring's introduction of the FieldSmart SCD xWB1 brought superior fiber management to environments of 2 to 6 fiber counts, but broadband service providers told us it left a hole in the market for a low-priced 12 to 24 port solution that didn't compromise fiber protection," said Johnny Hill, chief operating officer for Clearfield. "Service providers have recognized the scalability of the Clearview Cassette and are asking us to provide kitted solutions that package protection at an industry-leading price."
The FieldSmart SCD xWB2 kit complements the FieldSmart Fiber Delivery Point (FDP) Wall Mount Panel line - which provides three unique footprint designs that deliver 36 to 144 ports of fiber management in a traditional sheet-metal configuration.
Simple Yet Sophisticated in Design
As a lower cost alternative to sheet-metal designs, this lockable, NEMA 4 rated enclosure is consistent with Clearfield's long-standing reputation of delivering simple solutions for complex problems. Kitted with a Clearfield-designed U-Mount, the FieldSmart SCD xWB2 makes fiber slack-storage an integrated element of the total solution. Although technicians are working in a small space, bend-radius protection is never compromised.
Application Environments
The FieldSmart SCD xWB2 is ideally suited for in-building needs, such as business class demarcations, MDU distribution points and IDF locations in enterprise networks as well as pole-mount applications in outside plant environments. "Unique to the Clearfield design is the ability to bring multiple fiber sheaths into the FieldSmart SCD box. Each will be protected within their own Clearview Cassette -- providing service providers the ability to isolate one fiber sheath from another - within the same enclosure," said Hill.
FieldSmart Product Line Extensions
